Before you buy

• ✓Each colour of a Dyson or ghd tool usually has its own model code and its own price, and stores discount colours differently: check every colour before you buy.
• ✓For fine or damaged hair, look for adjustable heat (or a tool that limits it): most damage comes from heat, not from the brand.
• ✓A Dyson Airwrap or Shark FlexStyle replaces a dryer and a curler, but only if you use the attachments. If you only blow-dry, a good dryer costs a fraction of the price.
