Building or upgrading a PC in Australia means choosing between a handful of specialist computer stores and the big chains. Parts are commodities: an RTX 5070 from a given brand is the same card wherever you buy it. So price, stock and service are the whole story.

We check graphics cards, CPUs, motherboards, RAM and SSDs at the major Australian PC stores every morning. Here's who is cheapest most often.

Who is cheapest for PC parts

StorePrices comparedCheapest (or equal cheapest)Typical gap when not
digiDirect2990%+10%
MSY / Umart23569%+10%
PLE Computers8164%+9%
Mwave15959%+8%
Camera Electronic1020%+10%
JB Hi-Fi23111%+12%

Every product variant at least two of these stores had in stock today, at its outright price. Recalculated every morning.

MSY and Umart list the same price on almost every part both sell, so we count them as one. When we wrote this (October 2026), they had the lowest price on the large majority of parts they stock, with Mwave and PLE Computers next. JB Hi-Fi stocks a lot of PC parts but was rarely the cheapest on the ones the specialists also carry.

Beyond the price

  • Stock. A part that's cheapest at a store that's out of stock doesn't help. Our pages only count in-stock prices.
  • Delivery and pickup. The big PC stores have showrooms in some capital cities; elsewhere, delivery cost and speed differ a lot.
  • Bundles. Some stores bundle a game or a discount with a CPU and motherboard. Worth having, but compare the parts on their own too.
  • Warranty handling. PC parts are usually warranted by the store first. A store close to you, or one with an easy returns process, can be worth a few dollars.
  • Build services. If you don't want to assemble it yourself, several stores will build it for a fee.

Not on our list

We don't cover every PC shop yet. Scorptec, PC Case Gear, Centre Com and Computer Alliance are worth checking too. For a single exact part number, StaticICE searches many smaller shops, and PCPartPicker prices a whole build. See the best comparison sites in Australia.

Planning a build?

Our gaming PC build guide puts a full parts list together with today's prices, and the graphics card buying guide explains which GPU you need for 1080p, 1440p and 4K.

How we work: every price in this guide is today's lowest in-stock price across the Australian stores we check, refreshed every morning, and the tables recalculate with it. Nobody pays to be included or to rank higher. Specs come from the stores' and makers' own listings. How Compare Empire works
