Cameras are a category where a specialist store still matters. Body-only vs kit, which lens is in the box, and Australian vs imported stock all change the price, and a store that only sells cameras tends to list them more precisely.

We compare 1,045 cameras and 225 drones every morning, keeping body-only and kit listings apart. Here's who is cheapest most often.

What to check

  • Body only or kit. A kit includes a lens, often a basic one. If you'll buy a better lens anyway, the body alone can be the better deal.
  • Australian stock. Grey-import camera bodies are common online. They're cheaper partly because the manufacturer's Australian warranty may not apply. More on grey imports.
  • Combos. Drone "Fly More" and camera "Adventure" combos add batteries, chargers and accessories. Compare combo with combo.
  • Cashback. Camera makers run seasonal cashback offers through Australian retailers, which can change which store is cheapest after the rebate.
